Prof Guven Akdogan
Associate Professor

Short Bio

Prof Akdogan completed his PhD in Extractive Metallurgy at University of the Witwatersrand in 1992 and worked there as a Senior Lecturer at the School of Chemical and Metallurgy and Materials Engineering until 2003. He was awarded a WITS fellowship with Brunel University, London, during 2001 – 2002. In 2004 he moved to Element Six Pty (Ltd), De Beers and worked as a research manager in hard materials for oil-gas and metal applications until 2008 before he returned to academia at the Department of Process Engineering, Stellenbosch University, as an associate professor. Recently, he spent a period in USA working on mineral processing projects associated with INE at UA.

Research Interests

Mineral processing and extractive metallurgy, waste valorisation, and mine waste recycling.
